May 3, 2003 - keynoter.com -- Citing safety as the main concern, the Key West City Commission is set to prohibit the use of Segways – a hip, fairly new mode of personal transportation – throughout the city’s historic district. Mayor Jimmy Weekley says Segways are devices you "stand on and lean forward, or to the right or to the left, and it moves. It’s a novelty thing.
