There are lots of things that look good on the websites that sell them. There are lots of things that look good on paper, or in sales brochures.

I prefer to see what the reality will be, and what the actual device does, and it does not yet seem to be available for people to actually buy and use.

Once that happens, I agree, it should be explored and honestly evaluated. I would like a side by side comparison with the segway, as well as with other self balancing conveyances, done by an impartial judge.

But we can only offer conjecture till the machine actually is available for consumers to purchase and take ownership.

Karl did you miss the last part from Airdale See the quote above. seems that he says he has one and rides it all over Portland,OR

I think that was a quote from the RYNO website. Airdale is from Arizonia, the RYNO is from Portland.

I still do not think anyone has bought one and taken it home yet.

Karl is correct, unless of course Airdale is an undercover RYNO worker tasked to infiltrate this fine forum of ours...

Nope...lol

Think I would buy one.. no way to get to Oregon for me... really looks like a nice idea..

Just wonder how it does on steep inclines up here in the higher country?

Anything that can help me get around and have some freedom is a wonderful thing!

Well, my curiosity got the best of me and I signed up for their news letter. I am highly unlikely to buy one, but I've been curious since I first saw the pictures. I plan to be in Portland late next summer and would love to see one if I can persuade my daughter to take me to Beaverton.

We shall see! But I'll make it a point to share if I do get the chance to try one...

It is just Amazing to see a new product design on the SLA Battery energy source, the low energy density and the very unstable voltage range must be a killer on the electrical circuit.

SLA running serial to provide higher voltage is also a huge potential problem, fundamentally it should be at least 48 or even 60 volts to be efficient for the running motor, otherwise the loss during conversion/switching phase to drive and control the motor would be very inefficient, running SLA just make the circuit design a nightmare to handle the high current and huge voltage drop under load.

The range of 10 miles, We all know a half of Segway's range is just a pain, and this is less then half.

SLA is dead cheap upfront investment however Li-ion isn't much more expensive nowadays, considering SLA will die within 300 full charge/recharge cycle (if you are extremely lucky), compare with LiFePO4's 1500+ cycle, also LiFePO4 is much safer chemical and environmentally friendly too
