All I can say is start saving food now - LOL Even one can a meal, 3 meals a day, for 1 year is over 1000 cans of food, and that wouldn't be enough to feed a person, really. And today - http://www.urbansurvival.com (that's where I got the IHC link above <G>) pam |

It would seem to me that if you really beleived this stuff, you would get a gun. You would also get a fishing pole and some farm supplies. Then you should learn to hunt and fish and plant crops. If you believed in this stuff, saving cans of food will not help in the long run.

Right now, I think the biggest barrier to the continuity of the human race is the human race and our inability to get along. |

Agreed, Bob. <G>
And, Karl, agreed with most of your assessment for the long run, but cans of food will tide you over if lands become unplantable for a period of time. Boy scout motto, here. No amount of "stuff" will substitute for a prepared mind. If, of course, you believed in this. Well, the turkeys just flew down off the roost. I believe our temp is like Atlanta's this morning, so they're going to have chilly claws. TTYL, guys! pam |

If we want to be brutally honest here, and the stars are aligned against us, and ammageddon is comming...
Then the gun I suggested you have will be used to keep other humans from taking your 1000 cans of food, long before it is used to hunt for more... If and when it gets very bad, one of the most deadly animals on the planet will definately be that person right over there >>> I read that website and they are having a lottery to see who gets saved in the upcomming cataclysmic events...I am sure that they will hunt down the winners and save them, because we all know, that if the solar system passes thru the galactic plane, and the poles shift, the only people who will be immune to the effect will be those who registered with a partular website... Because those people have a different relationship to the gravitation forces and resulting weather that will be unleashed... The problem with following a bunch of loons, is that even if you survive, you now have to live under the rules of a bunch of loons. There was a Barney Miller (an 80s Television series that took place in a NYC Police precinct) episode where they found a bunch of survivalists in the subway tunnels who were stockpiling cans of food, and eating the animals they found there... Mostly rats. When Barney asked them why, they said that they were preparing themselves for the end of civilization, and anyway, Rats taisted like chicken... Barney concluded that if that is what you need to do to survive a bit longer than the rest, perhaps the lucky ones were not actually the ones that lived thru the cataclysm. Yes, preparation for what may come down the road is the key. It always has been, and always will be.
