all of these are great ideas. I love the idea of the Star Tours chimes as a horn! Other friendly-sounding macintosh-like alerts would be positive.

Or the beeping sounds of the old Tomorrowland Rocket-rods. Those had a distinctive chirp to them.

Disney is great at giving technology a friendly face. I'd love to see what Imaginnering would come up with were they to customize a Segway.

I have developed a motion sensor alarm for Segs that lets me know if anyone is messing with it in my carport. Let me know if you other owners are interested.

Cvinton's don't-mess-with-the-HT alarm is a good idea. Lends itself to battery operation since the only drain is likely when it screams.

I think the best thing to come out of these ideas is this: Segway: give the thing a power socket! Lights, horns, alarms--all neeeeeeeeeed some juice.

My motion alarm is independently batery operated, not from the HT. I will eventuall take off a 12-v line, but problem is getting from 72-v to 12 volt, so I'm taking my time.

Hey you already owners---I woke up dreaming that what I would want first was something that, when parking the HT, would fold down over the platform taking away the temptation for passersby to step up on it. Make sense? Or just a dream.
Hey 2totango just thought of an angle you can use to keep people off it when you don't want them on it. This is the "Chariot Mode"...have a flex body around it, like a chariot, made out of thin plexiglass, plastic or aluminum. At each side have it spring loaded to stay upright and hinged at 60 degree or whatever angle you want. Then whenever you want to keep people from steping on it simply fold the hinged sides together to form a wedge shield over the platform and then lock it.

OR

Make or design a waterproof wedge shaped fabric cover that fits around the gooseneck (t-bar) and zips down and fastens underneath with snaps or velcro. This will probably keep people off as well. What do you think?

I would want a Glide Data Recorder. This black box would be able to be removed from your Segway, and plugged into a computer so that you can keep an accurate log of miles ridden, steepest incline, temperature, and other useful information. It would be so cool to look up your total miles ridden at the end of the year, print off a little chart showing miles ridden by day, week, month, etc.

It would be great to have it wired into the Segway, so that it could indicate the effect on the batteries of varying conditions such as incline, temperature, rider weight, etc.

I want a different frame colors instead of sterile grey, different hub cap options and some type of mileage chart wired into the handlebar

I suggested to Segway LLC an adapter that you could wire into the trunk of your car to charge the Segway as you drive in your automobile using the power from the car battery. For those of us who must drive to work and then use the Segway around the office or to make short trips at lunch, this would be an ideal device. It's not too farfetched, doesn't appear to be too cumbersome from a technological perspective or from an engineering angle, and would be practical for those who want to take their Segway outside of normal gliding range.

My other car is a Segway!

It is a good idea and I plan to get an inverter at Sam's or Wal Mart!

Check this topic:

Wiring the 12 to 120 volt inverter to a circuit that is only ON while the automobile engine is running will be the challenge.
