It's a bad idea to use a Segway during a tornado. Or on a hilltop during a lightning storm. Or when it's hurling golf-ball-sized hailstones at you.

It's probably also wise to avoid using your Segway during an ice storm, or during a blizzard.

Otherwise...don't worry about your Segway. Worry about keeping yourself comfortable. Dressed appropriately, you can use your Segway in a downpour. I'd actually rather take my Segway in those conditions, than my car. Visibility is better, and generally you'll have to get out of your car eventually, and wearing all that rain gear in the car isn't all that comfortable...

Obviously, we can't have infinite voltage, or the universe would tear itself to shreds, and we wouldn't be discussing Segways.

I am one of several posters on this board from the Portland area... suffice it to say, if Segways didn't work in the rain, no one in Oregon would own one.

(In fact, that goes for Seattle too.)

Yesterday I was visiting my local country airport watching the guys fly their RC vehicles.

I packed and dressed for a downpour! 5 minutes after I left on my 25 minute (5 mile) journey back home, it started raining hard!

Raincoat, sandals, and a baseball cap.

Best ride yet!

Love hearing the water rooster tail off the wheels!

Erika, my 8-year-old, is visiting friends in NC (with her mom). When she heard it might rain there this week, she was astonished.

"It's the wrong time of year!"

She's never seen more than a bit of mist during the summer months (roughly, May-Oct).

Send her to Denmark, and she won't know the difference of the seasons anymore (The weather during Danish seasons seem to be relatively random, only following a faint pattern in temperature...)
We've recently had massive amounts of downpour, and a thunderstorm...
