![]() Has anyone reconditioned or rebuilt a pivot assembly for an i2? It seems that they could be reconditioned instead of just thrown away. I just replaced one on one of my units and I am monkeying around with the old one, trying to take it apart without destroying it. In the past, I have just thrown the old part away.

![]() I also have an I2 that needs a new pivot sensor but i cant figure out how to open that "plastic disk" to access the sensor.
Do i need to drill it or something and rotate? Thank you |

![]() The sensor is a sealed, precision device, and if it’s not working, it’s very unlikely that forcing it open will have a positive outcome. There are two sensor elements in there, and they have to agree with each other within a very small tolerance.
It’s the steering sensor, after all! Screw around with it at your own peril. |

![]() Hey Philip
Apologies for the very late reply but i have been too busy on the opposite side of the internet. I have both models but the one i mentioned is the i2 SE that comes in a sealed enclosure. The i2's are easy as you just need to remove the cover screws to access it. Thank you for your time ![]() |

![]() Our I2 SE is developing wobbly steering, a bit loose. All the fasteners are tight, the problem is inside the unit. There's another thread that addresses that problem on the I2 and suggests replacing the steering sensor. But, as the post above says, it appears the SE implementation is different, and the sensor is inside the pivot assembly. So the whole pivot assy would have to be replaced.
Does that sound right? Can anybody suggest a source for a pivot assembly? The SE maintenance manual makes it sound like replacing it is involved but could be done by an owner. It sure is hard finding somebody to work on the I2 and X2 models, especially near the boondocks of southern New Mexico. We took ours all the way to Phoenix for some work a couple years ago, but that tour business is only servicing their own units now. Thanks. Mike Edwards Las Cruces, NM |
