Serious problem after extensive circling
After very fast extensive circling in diameters of about 20-30ft
the Segway do not balance in the usual way. It balances the driver not correct. The driver is leaning to much in the front. It feels like there is the risk to overthrow in the next moment. After approx. 20 seconds everything is normal. I had the same problem with every Segway. Two I, and two P. Is this a common thing? Rob |

Rob: you're making your Segway dizzy. Don't do that
Just like you, the Segway uses liquid-filled sensors to sense which way is "up"; if you sping around a pole quickly over and over, it will have a hard time figuring out which way is up for a few moments--thus the effect you're seeing. Chris P.S. That's probably not the best things to do to your HT, for its long-term well-being. Also, you could technically be putting yourself in a bad situation (with the lean super-far-forward tilt offset), but then again these machines seem to be overly smart about what they'll do in extreme situations. Either way, riding aggressively in tight circles is out of spec with the "smooth movements" basis of the machine's instructions. BTW, you may actually feel a big pushback when you come out of the tight loops--followed by the extreme tilt forward. That's even more freaky. |

Change that diameter to about 10 feet, and do about 25 spins in yellow key as fast as you can do the spin in about 10 feet, then try to stand on the platform. The handle will drop to between your hips and knees. But, about 30 seconds later, it will slowly come back.

Oh, I remember the first time I did this and the Segway got dizzy too! It sure is a strange feeling and blinky wasn't too happy either.
This is NOT something I'd every recommend (well, maybe try it once only, 'cause I know you will anyway!). Steven |

Chris,
i hope my Segway don't have a trauma yet. I will treat "him" now with respect and drive only with the yellow key this season. Rob |

Mike P.s. no real harm comes to the machine, but the fluid does pack up on the side and the machine is "dizzy" untill it levels out. Mike |

I thought I was just going crazy when I started having the same thing happen but then I tried a few other machines and came up with the same result. We actually had a machine that got spun so much that the rider had to step off and wait for it to normalize.

Almost Human
Thats pretty funny. So, if you get drunk and go for a glide, does the Segway stagger around too ? Does it have to do 'County Lockup Time' ?

Rob, that is totally normal behavior for the Segway. The severe motions you put it through caused the gyros and tilt sensors to be quite busy. In effect, you made the Segway dizzy. So, in order to deal with for this and signal the rider that the machine is not within its normal parameters, the Segway tilts forward. The forward tilt is kind of like a stronger speed limiter.
Once you stop the extreme motions and as the gyros & tilt sensors settle down, the forward tilt slowly disappears over a few seconds and the machine resumes it's normal upright stance. I am sure there are no long term effects of doing this - no physical damage to the machine. But there is always the risk with any extreme maneuvers of falling off if you push the envelope too far.
