The way I look at life is no risk no reward and I have done very well because of that.

As for Alibaba I have bought and am in the process of buying some large machines for my factory though them. What I have come to find out about buying these machines from china than those in Europe, their factories are way more advanced and up to date. The quality has been just as well if not better than some of the other machines I have. So I have no problem there.

PayPal is very good about getting your money back, as long you follow all the steps. I've received broken items and items not show up and got my money back.

If I do buy one I will follow up with videos and pictures.

Alibaba is a reputable company, and in fact owns several US companies.

And eBay sale goes by eBay rules - not exactly Paypal, although Paypal payment is required, I believe.. I do not know exactly what the rules are for sales from China (but the buyer can find out before purchasing).

On a US-US sale, the rule is (approx.) if the buyer doesn't get what was described, eBay will make sure the buyer gets their money back, including one-way shipment. [Lots of details, but that's the guts of it].

And that has nothing to do with when Paypal pays the seller.

The purists here will dis anything that is not a real segway, because this is a segway enthusiasts site, not a dynamic balancing conveyance enthusiasts site. I personally am a big fan of the segway, because I believe it was so well designed. I have gotten to know some of the principals, (many if not most whom have moved on) and have respect for them as well.

All that said, this market and demographic is WAY overdue for some new... anything! We need new machines, we need new ideas. Even a good copy gets the juices flowing. If the copy is good enough, it may take some market share. If the current owners of that market share want to get it back, they will make theirs even better.

Capitalism, market competition, innovation, price competition, all the things that drive an economy, a techno race, and the life blood of commercialism are all missing here, or at such a low ebb, that there is no movement, and has been none for too long.

Maybe this will be the push we all needed to get moving faster again.

I look forward to your reports...

What is a freego? I googled it and found 5 different things, and some of them were segways.

And it seems you do not have a Freego. It seems you have a not-so-Free-not-so-go.

Try again...

It also depends on the type of patent.

The UV-05..... It was $1500 shipping included...

To sell a product, not support or service it.. I guess You better track how many miles you get on it just to figure actual cost?

So I paid $600 dollars a mile...Its dead and paypal and ebay are a joke when it comes down to this...

Just curious What difficulty did you have with that?

Providing details would perhaps be helpful to other members of this forum.

Also, an eBay item number (auction number) and/or seller ID would be nice.

If the unit is properly described, U.S. Customs will hopefully take custody at the border and the purchaser will never see the illegal knock off. This is as it should be. Then again, maybe the Chinese company will describe the shipment as "powdered baby milk" and it will get through.

If one wants a two-wheeled, self-balancing conveyance, Segway is your only legal option in the U.S. If one wants a two-wheeled, self-balancing conveyance for cheap, because those pesky patent and import laws are for others, then move to a country which has no legitimate legal system and pay bribes. We need no more scofflaws in the U.S., we're already stocked up.

In my humble opinion, anyone who knowingly purchases illegal knock-offs from foreign companies, violating U.S. patents and harming U.S. companies and the U.S. economy deserves the fine/jail time.
