Megan, the blond lady, says up front that the video "apparently shows a person using technology that would not be invented for decades".

The title of the spot reads, "Footage From 1928 Shows Mysterious 'Time Traveller'"

Charlie Chaplin was trending on Twitter the other day and this was the reason why. I've watched it and find it amusing how it looks like the person is using a phone, but I don't know who they would be talking to with the distinct lack of networks and broadcast equipment. Maybe their phone works 4th dimensionally and they are communicating with someone from the future - or the past!

I don't know about anyone else, but all I saw was someone holding their hand up to their head. Shielding their ear from something loud?

This is Journalism???

I had read it was from a Charlie Chaplin DVD, from an extra feature. Not journalism perhaps but curiously interesting.

If it was actually a person who had a device that is decades out of time, would that not be news?

Not all on the Fox News Channel is news, as you yourself have said. This is likely some sort of Republican conspiracy in the eyes of some, simply because it happened on Fox.

And John Edward's out of wedlock baby was actually an alien, because it first was revealed in the Enquirer (or some other tabloid).

The venue it is reported on does not affect if it is Journalism or not, it is the quality of the particular piece.

I was perhaps wrong in saying that you exactly said that. I have the distinct impression that you do not respect Fox New Channel as a credible source for information, as a result of reading your opinions on this forum, but you are correct in that I do not recall, nor care to look for, a specific post with those exact words.

In the 24 hour news environment that we see played out daily, it does not surprise me that some items get presented that seem less journalistic than others.

I do not believe this is restricted to just one station.

This is very much as plausable as any other offered explanation. To take a particular few seconds from a persons life, image a small percentage of exactly what is going on, and then try to explain it decades later is not going to be an easy task, and will pretty much be impossible with the information available.

One simple example of how you can go astray, is a joke I use frequently...

I wear a bluetooth earpiece mostly all the time. My hearing is not very good anymore, and the speakers on my phone are hard for me to understand, and I also frequently do not hear it ring. Because of this, I like to wear the earpiece all the time, even when not specifically on the phone, and when it rings in my ear, I just press the button on the earpiece.

Because of this method, people often do not even see my phone, nor know that I am on the phone.

For years I have been known to walk around, talking and gesturing, as I go. This has been documented on many a security camera, while walking clearly alone.

The last few years I have been able to explain it away as meaning I was on the phone, but the truth is, that is only a good excuse. I have been walking, talking and gesturing far longer than I have owned a bluetooth, and simply having it in my ears does not guarentee that there is actually someone else at the other end of the conversation!

I guess what we need is a time machine to go back and interview the lady. If my time travel experiments are successful and you keep watching the video, you'll see me ride past on my Segway and find out exactly what is going on. I better fully charge my batteries. The flux capacitor on my Segway only operates when I hit 88MPH.
