Default Unlocated Fault

My XT suddenly shut down yesterday while on a normal ride. Upon restart I got an "Unlocated Fault" icon displayed.

I tried the steps listed in the manual, control shaft cables reseated and batteries reseated and swapped. But, I am still getting this error.

I checked the battery voltage, and both were at 76.5 volts. I tried recharging. That was all normal, but the red icon remains.

Anyone have any other steps I can try?

Angry Dealer Assistance needed.

Dennis

Your XT machine keeps a log of events.
You can get this symbol under two broad set of circumstances:

1
A major fault has occurred.

2
A number of minor events have occurred.

You will need to take this XT to a dealer, who can download the logs.
Those logs will detail the nature of your problem.

If it is case 1, the the dealer will be able to suggest a remedy, and the cost of that remedy.

If it is case 2, sometimes just clearing the logs, can get your machine back up, sometimes not. It all depends on the details of the errors that have been logged.

Cheers
Michael

Default Thanks

Michael:

Thanks for your insight.

I called the local Segway dealer today and he said the same thing, "It has to go to the factory.". I know that will be expensive, but likely cheaper than buying a new one.

Hopefully, they'll detail the repair, and I can pass it on to The Chat.

Hi Dennis

In the olde days, some dealers had a laptop with some special gear.
They could then perform the work locally ( at least online to Segway ).

I am unsure whether or not that is still the case.
Might be worth calling a few nearby dealers, just in case they still do that.

Good Luck
Michael
