new electric scooter with fuel cell
Check this out: A production version electric scooter that has a fuel cell to charge the batteries while you park at work or stop to eat! Parker Hannifin Corp. 500 watt Direct Methanol Fuel Cell sits neatly under rear passenger seat
This is a commercial equivalent of that fuel cell seg we saw in Florida. Now if someone would build a production version for the HT, we would almost have "perpetual motion". But I wonder what the price would be? The article on the scooter says it will cost about what a gas scooter would cost. Wow, I didn't see this coming (a production version fuel-cell anything). And if it truly does cost about the same as a gas scooter, I'll be really impressed.
AND, I notice it's a methanol fuel cell, which is more suited for charging something (as is the case here), as opposed to direct drive of a larger vehicle. I would think it woud also be well suited for charging a Segway... I only say this because I think a production hydrogen version of anything is still a ways off... I actually have to sign an NDA for a John Deere/Hydrogenics hyrdrogen fuel cell on Monday, and was surprised when I saw the title of this thread.
