Remember, that it is a airline / pilot decision to fly with Li-Ions. Guidelines say they can but they don't have to.

Alan, sorry about this...lucky you didn't have Li-Ions.

Yep, but when I was hanging around the airport for a few hours I did a little checking as I have another trip coming and not one major U.S. carrier would allow them.

They also knew nothing about the "Pilots choice" rule and the airlines have said no, so there it is.
