Hi....I'm from a small police department about an hour west of Chicago.
We recently purchased a Segway X2 Police model as part of a United States Department of Justice COPS Technology grant.
The plan is to use the Segway for community relations and to enhance our "foot patrol" activities. The Segway will allow officers to carry additional equipment such as a medical kit and AED while patrolling sidewalks and the bike paths.

I'm looking forward to learning new information from other members on this site.

We have several law enforcement officers who use a PT at work and have then bought one for their personal use.

This is a great place to learn all about the different aspects of the seg!

We here at Segway of Chicago service many Police Departments and Security Departments as well as Municipalities, Colleges, and Malls. We have a host of experience with law enforcement and know that the Segway is an excellent tool for patrolling and perimeter surveillance. Should you need any training and/or support please feel free to call on us or stop in for a visit.

75 miles west is a bit far reaching for a suburb although Chicago probably feels anything west of them is a "burb" hahah

The PT will be used at the Rock Valley College Police Department which is located in Rockford.

I can think of one thing already haha. We have the police package so it has the siren/light on it. Is there anyway to deactivate the red/blue & siren and just use the white LED as a headlight? We don't have the manual for the lights.

If you call the shop on or after Jan 2 we will take you through the button pushing sequence for using your light with white light only. Call 708-352-1685 between 10 am and 4pm and ask for Michael.
