Purchased refurbished ES3 kick scooter. Has a bluetooth password that I don't know.
Hi,
I purchased a refurbished Segway Ninebot ES3 scooter from Newegg.com, which just arrived yesterday (11/20/2019). I took it out of the box, connected the handle, and turned it on. I then launched the Segway Ninebot app on my iPhone (which I'd already installed, in anticipation of the scooter's arrival), and it immediately showed the scooter: https://tinyurl.com/txuuyhb (link to screenshot) so I tapped on its name, and was then prompted for a password: https://tinyurl.com/vjelx3u I didn't know if it was asking for an existing password (like a default password, similar to what you'd have on a wifi router, which would then be able to be changed), or if it wanted me to set a password. The owner's manual says absolutely nothing about this. I tried a few variations of passwords (primarily just passwords of different lengths and number combinations, because it only allows one to enter numbers). Nothing worked. No matter what I put in, I get the "Password error" message shown in orange: https://tinyurl.com/th4rrom I tried something I read online to reset the password, which is to hold down the brake and accelerator levers/paddles, then press the power button to turn it on, but still, no password is accepted. I'm assuming that the password is something that was set by the refurbished scooter's previous owner, and which should have been cleared/reset by Segway (or whoever did the refurbishing). Sure is frustrating to have finally received my new "toy," and to not be able to play with it. :-( Thanks! Doug P.S. I sent an email to Segway support, but am hoping someone here on the forum may know the answer. |
