Default Oh Man, RED Light on Battery!!! NOOOOOO!!!!

When I arrived home tonight I took out the batteries out and put them to charge on the offboard charger. I then realize that I'm getting a red light on one of them. The batteries are Li-ion, and my feeling is that I did not had the batteries on charge while not been in use for a week. Perhaps the battery on the back had been depleted bellow the level needed for the charger be able to charge the battery. I have read some past post about this issue. MTO seems to be the company of choice for many. But I'm in no shape to be spending their prices($700-900$ if Im correct). I was wandering if there is a dealer in NY (manhattan) that can look at the battery and perhaps fix for a reasonable price?

Warmest Regards

Wink Solutions

There are solutions to this problem.

Search this site for 'Battery Reviver' and you will see many discussions.

We do have equipment in NY state and other parts of the North East.

I've been getting a red light on my rear battery at the end of its charge cycle for almost 2 years now. As stated in another thread, often this can be avoided by putting the segway in security mode and then plugging in to charge. This has been working for me for many months. The battery appears to charge normally, no red light, and my range seems relatively normal for batteries that are over 3 years old.

It seems that Security Mode is a feature added on the Gen 2 Segways and not the Gen 1. Is this accurate? I have the E-167.

That is correct. Only the Gen 2 machines have the security mode.
