Just to make a notice, the fast food restaurant I want to use the Segway through doesn't have any signs or warnings posted for no pedestrian use, if it did, I would not be considering it.

I went thru a drive-thru at McDonalds on my ATV one time in Gilbert W Virginia with my Springer Spaniel Bentley on the back. That was the first town I was ever in that let you drive ATVs on the street, so dog and I went for a cruise thru town. When we got to the pickup window, he stuck his head right in the window and started to bark, because he gets all excited when we go to the drive-in window and he gets a hamburger. But he had his Doggles on(doggie goggles) and he looked pretty cool, so although they were very startled, they had a good laugh. But it certainly was silly.

That's very funny, I would never bring my dog to McDonalds though as the bill would be £1,000's

Just went up to the door at Panda Express, said they closed at 22:00...
It was 22:05...
Looked inside, pretty dark...
Drove through the thru to exit...
Van was at speaker...
Waited...
Van later pulled up to window...
Took 5 minutes to find her money to pay...
Cashier peered out window at me and freaked out...
I then pull up to window after van leaves...
I request to purchase a bag of fortune cookies...
She says it'll be $1.08...
I pay using two one dollar bills...
I get 92 cents in change...
She hands me my fortune cookies...
I glide off...
She stares at me until I'm halfway across the parking lot and waves...

So far so good!

This post re-opens one of the most hotly debated topics in the segway world...

Do all the fortunes in the bag of cookies apply to Tritium?

Yes, unless they predict I will get another hashbrown at McDonalds today, which I will most definitely not.

Talking

about 4 years ago at the Segway-Meeting @ Steyr (Austria) we drove through Mc Donald´s with aprox. 57 Segways. That was REAL fun. The staff was really amazed.

F. Lazy
G. Stupid
H. Just plain silly

I'm going with J.

Our city has a drive thru for paying water and gas bills. I tried (lazily) once gliding through it, and was politely informed by the lady that they didn't allow pedestrians there as it was dangerous. That was a head-slap moment for me. On my last visit, they even suggested that I glide right into the building and up to the walk-up window.

Now THERE'S progress on the Segway PR front!

Besides, why the hell is anyone in their right mind still poisoning themselves with fast food or jeopardizing our gliding rights/public image by doing this?

I personally agree with Dan's assessment of how I want to be treated when on a segway. I would be happier to be assumed to be equal to a pedestrian as opposed to a vehicle when I am on my seg. I know that's according to how I use a segway (in an urban setting going in and out of buildings in the same locations as pedestrians) and not commuting on the roads, etc. A bicycle I would think more parallels a vehicle as you don't have the ability to do things in a stationary postion and interact with ordinary standing people, whereas with a seg, you can function quite well along side of them. I think its basically dangerous to interact with vehicles as there is a significant size/weight/performance difference. I do glide on back country roads on occasion, but give a wide bearth, similar to as if I was walking. That being said, I think I basically view myself AS a pedestrian in how I glide and would do things pedestrians do and not vehicle-borne people would do.
