Ask your mother about that....
(Sorry, couldn't resist. I predict my own mother will chime in here...)

Never push an exercise ball
Never try to push an exercise ball with an i2. The ball is "sticky" and the tires get traction against it and try to climb it. It makes a lot of noise when the handlebar and your body slam on a gym floor. Spectacular crash (sorry, no video), but no worse for the wear. Only a bruise from the keys in my pocket. Very large beach balls work much better.

It's a matter of those that have been those that will!
I have fallen a couple of times and I had it coming to me. Sometimes the comfort zone can prove to be a problem. Always be alert. Be Big, AMAC

I've done a pretty good Superman impression...
... for about a second!
Try catching one wheel on a concrete parking block at full tilt! Glad I know how to tuck and roll

Once In 5 Years
I too have MS, I've had a 167 since they first came out. Believe it or not my fall was rather recent. I think I must have encountered a slippery area because I went into a spin & then down. I'm alright now but I had a hard time getting to my feet. I use my segway everyday. I'd hate to be without it.

Superman
I've fallen three times. The first time I was going down a hill on the sidewalk. It was before sunrise on my way to work. I car was coming towards me up the hill. It was a dark street and he had his high beams on. I was blinded and ran into a large pile of trash that someone had put in the middle of the sidewalk instead of on the curb. I did a great impression of Superman before I got a mouthfull of grass. The second time I was just outside my metro station on a narrow sidewalk. There was a lady in front of me listening to her headphones. She didn't hear me so I decided to go around her using the grass. What I didn't know was that the grass was hiding a hole and down I went. My head hit the pavement so hard I split my helmet. The last time I was almost home from work. It was night and my headlight went out about halfway home. I came across a place where a car had apparently jumped the curb and ran into a stone wall. The car was gone but there were stones everywhere. I safely negotiated my way through and was about twenty feet past it. I was heading around the corner when I sudenly went down. When I got up I saw I had hit a stone with my left wheel.

My worst fall was when I tried to ride my i167 through a space that wasn't quite wide enough. The Seg snagged on a curb and vaulted me forward basically face-first into the sidewalk. I was scraped up and had a black eye.
I had some other falls on the i167 when I was first learning, and one when I tried to ride it on the snow and fell on my back. (I know this wasn't a great idea, but my work was open in spite of the snow, and I felt that I needed to try to get to the bus stop.) I fell once from my i2 when I tried to ride over a piece of fallen branch on the sidewalk. I aimed it between my two wheels successfully, but it was too big and snagged my Segway, bringing it to a stop and dropping me onto some nearby grass. |
