Anyone know how to but a radio on my X1?
I have been wondering if it is possible to mount a deck and some sperkers on my segway. I did not know if it had been done before or if it was even possible. Let me know what you think. I would love all opinions.

Years ago I added a simple amp for music to my gen 1 seg...
This rig, even as simple as it is, was surprisingly loud. I had no problem using it and even used it in a parade once... I had this unit nestled between the handlebar and the handlebar protection device... I have also had various boom boxes on the flat platforms of my i2, and in the bags (or on top of the side bags) of my E-167. Good luck, and show us what you come up with...

Looks like a roll cage for the handlebar. One of your inventions?

Thank you for the ideas
In the next couple of days I will go to the local car audio stores and find out what my options are. I will for sure post pictures if anything comes of it.

Not at all. Prior to this photo, I did have a home made handlebar protection system, and there are some made in Europe as well... This particular unit was available directly from Segway Corporate... I believe it was developed for the police machines, and were on their website, and sold thru their dealers... I would not own a gen 1 machine without this protection device considering the scarcity and expense of a new handlebar...

Try an iPod or like device with earphones. As long as you don't make it too loud you can still safely hear what is going on around you.

Is it legal to ride a Segway while listening to earbuds? (I'm pretty sure you can't drive a car that way.)
I think INC recommends that you not listen to any music when you're riding, because you need to concentrate. I know their statements tend to be pretty "conservative" and recommend every safety precaution possible... but do you folks think it is safe to ride a Segway and listen to music? |
