Default i2 Seat development project in San Antonio

We are working on a seat system for the i2. Tarkus was the inspiration - complaining in April about the issues he had with the i2 Lean Steer, and how what he needed was something he could hold on to with his legs.

Working with a wizard designer, who rides mountain UNICYCLE for fun, we've come up with a seating system, with internal shock, that can sport either a sliding seat or a fixed platform.

You can see what we are working on by clicking here.

Love to get some feedback.

Hey Brian,

Happy you posted, I have made reference to your seat after trying it out in San Antonio.
You know I'm up for one but with "Cane Steer"....

There are so many possibilities for that setup.

Be Big,
Alan

interesting designs, my only complaint is that it would follow the asthetics of the segway a little more closely and allow more use of segway parts. Such as the use of the original lsf and unobstructed use of the floor mats for those of us that glide standing up too. Your off to a great start, and I look forward to further refinements

Default Progress Report???

What is the status of this project? I got out today for first time in a couple of months. Back is raising hell.

Could have used a seat several times to rest...

Default i2 Seat Status

We are working on a production prototype and are targeting having a couple ready for the Segs4Vets event coming up in San Antonio April 16/17.

This exercise will allow us to cost the unit and then we can see if there's a market for this. We also hope to get some more feed back from the DRAFT crew who will be in town. (Alan?)

Actually, the unit is designed so that the only change to a stock Segway i2 is you swap out the stock floor mats for ones that are hooked to the seat. (Have to be able to load the foot sensors by JUST sitting on the seat.) I ride it standing or sitting. It should be great for Polo - gives you good lateral stability as there is something for your knees to grab. It also works with the stock handle - however, the short one lets you "knee steer" which is a kick in the kitchen - hands free Segway. Some shots of that in the video at the bottom of the page first linked to at the top of this thread. (I need to post more...)

When we get the production prototypes done we'll hoist a full set of images and some test video.
