Default Jimi Heselden Dies. Apparently Rode Segway into River near home.

Folks:

This is apparently true. All the UK papers are carrying this story.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...nes-cliff.html

What is strange is I've looked with Google Maps at the area - same image as from the story - and there is no "cliff" - this is a well developed rural farm area with a dam/barrage just upstream of where Heselden was found.

Here's a link to the Google Maps location.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=53.919...,0.009527&z=17

The red dot from the story is at the intersection of Lays Lane and the River. Note the dam just to the left.

Very strange. Very sad.

Brian

Very sad in deed. I just hope this doesn't reflect badly on the Segway. This can happen in any vehicle or bicycle if you get too close to a cliff.

True, very sad...
For the segway it would be better if he was riding a horse, or a bike...
I got a lot of:"You still are riding a segway after what has happened?"...

And I tell those people "Yes,and I still drive a car and ride a bike after many thousands have died using those devices, I just don't use them too near a cliff..."

I must have been fortunate, most people asked be about the " accident " but all seemed to understand that it was a tragic mistake not the machine.
