Default Gearbox versions?

Is the gearbox on a generation one machine the same as gen. two?
I have an older Segway "parts" machine. My gen two has a noisy transmission on the right side. Wondering if I can replace it with a lower mileage one from early generation one Segway?

No, the Gen-II has a three lug pattern and the Gen-1 has a single. You should be able to see this if you have the parts there. Also, it’s “likely” the elastomer is worn, or the coupling is loose, which may be causing the noise.

Default gearbox noises

Thank you RMullins. "My spare machine is in another city... and I am relying on a less than mechanical friend to look it over for suitability. You saved me a long drive to get the gearbox.
I did a search on oil and other matters, but found one long thread that had devolved into a debate, rather than technical info. My 3500 mile machine is noisy on the right side. I found it had no oil in it. Flushed it with ATF and my magnet found lots of metal. Running it now with 3 oz. of 0-50 wt. synthetic BMW oil. I am astounded after all the years on the market.... I can find no reference to the quantity of oil in there. Many have speculated on what it is.
Anyway, I will run it with the synthetic until I find a used gearbox with less miles.

Can somebody tell me what Zoe's bearings are needed in the gen 2(i2) gearbox? The bearings have some space and the shop has never seen this type off gears with rubber seals outside the bearing in a groove. He tells me he have only 17 mm high bearings instead of 16 mm......

What too do now??? How can I remove the axis from the 'gearteethwheel' sorry for my bad English.
