Default Insurance availability

Hello My name is Blake I was a crush injury while in the military almost 19 years ago. My body is starting to break down. I had mutiple pelvic fractures one all the way though the right hip. I also have 3 breaks in my back and 8 bad discs, But thank the Lord I am still here. I have 3 insurances, Medicare A & B, Tricare Prime and Veterans Administration. It was a service connected injury. My disability rating is 80% unemployable which is actually 100%. I amm not sure if any of these insurance companies can help me with the receivingof a segway to keep me mobile and lout of a powerchair. I am only 43 years old and I will do what I can to stay upright as long as the Lord lets me. If anyone has a similar situation or idea please share it with me.
Thak you all and God Bless,
Blake

Blake,
Give the Segway a try. Check out the www.draft.org website and you will see there are plenty of people just like yourself out there that have found the Segway to be a real lifesaver. Draft is based in St. Louis as well.

Keep us informed, no doubt you will find it changes your life.

Blake,

I agree with Will, check out Draft. They are a great bunch of people...

You may have to think outside of the box to get your segway. You should try one in a tour or at a dealer to be sure it is a good fit for your needs...

There have been very few insurance buys of segways, but they are not unheard of. You will likely need to be pretty insistant, and enlist the aide of the doctors you see. Others will be able to give more specific information in this area...

Regardless of your success with the insurance companies, there are other avenues as well to getting a seg... Be sure to consider and try both the gen 1 machines (easier to get used and cheaper) or the newer gen 2 machines (available new and used, but generally more expensive).

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Default I have had a Segway tour in St. Louis

Thank you all for your comments. I have had a tour on the segway as a 40th birthday present from my parents at Forest Park and it was great. It has been the last year I have started to really notice the degenorative disc disease but I am only 43 and I know I will not be put in a chair. I tried segway and they told me it was never recognized as a medical device. It is very frustrating. I did leave a message for Mr. Kerr, but It must have been around pasing of his Wife Pam, God will sometime call us all home. God bless and keep her!!!!!!
