Blinky Brain Transplant
As I mentioned I had to swap out blinky, here are some pictures of me doing just that.
The cluster of wires! Blinky naked for all to see Putting it all together Attaching the Turn Control As you may (or may have not) noticed All the wiring in the handlebar is complete, now. The blue/white wire in the upper right hand corner is the horn wiring, there is also a Alarm LED mounted dead center of the segway (Which you will see when it's all completed and pretty) I still have all the base wiring to do, as well as all the gadgets to install. THEN COMES THE HARD PART Programming in the touch screen controls with the Phidgets to MAKE THE DEVICES WORK.. (So don't think I am finished so quickly!) Jonathan PS: Notice how I am ignoring the Legaleze discussion™ PPS; Its time like these I am glad I have a cache of EXTRA Handlebars!!!!

Front Trim?
Hey Jon,
Since you're the handlebar meister, do you know if the front trim on the handlebars of i180s fastens the same way as the one on the i167s? The i167 trim just has some tabs that pop into slots, is it the same for the i180s? Please let me know, if you know! Thanks, Fernando |

Thanks
Thanks for the info, Jon!
How do you usually get the trim off? Do you just pry with a screwdriver or do you use something else? -Fernando |

I have used a plastic guitar pick successfully without causing any marks. I suspect a sharpened credit card would also work. By "sharpened", I mean the edge of the card or pick is tapered to a point (with a file or sandpaper), instead of being the same thickness of the card or pick proper. |

I use an orange stick (the funny wood thing that women use for their nails) or a pair of wodden chopsticks.
Both work fine and leave no marks. Steven |

plastic spatula
or plastic putty knife, same idea, tapered, but plastic, so it leaves no marks.
I found the gray rubber handlebar trims easier to remove then the hard plastic ones on the midnight blue 180's, though I like the solid trim better. Jonathan

12-11-06 Update
Work continues
I started wiring up the CS Base [Color coded connectors, black for video / white for A/V] Here you can See just HOW MANY wires I have crammed into this poor little Segway! A not so good picture of the base and the wires coming out of the CS base A large picture of the CS shaft, Like a NYC apartment! [notice the notch on the right side, so no cables get pinched / cut] HERE IT IS! All connected ready to be re-assembled! And my premier of my new Alarm Light! Jonathan

Wow , Jonathan thats looking great. With all that wiring and connections wouldn't it been easier to use ribbon cable, and a printer port or hard drive connectors?
