i would most defiantly buy one, but this could be the future of wheel chairs. the theo jansen mechanism was ingeniously incorporated

Wow - that is a freaky movement. Kind of reminds me about that film with Tom Selleck in it set in the future with loads of spider robots crawling around.
A clever product.

If they put 2 sets of legs front-to-back (think 4-legged configuration) it would be more stable. A couple of times they tipped over. Other than that it looks quite ingenious.
I wonder if you could use this for handicap mobility (can't really call it a wheel chair if it has no wheels). If you added some ability to modify the geometry of the legs to compensate for things like stairs and curbs you could really have something. |
