i170 cargo carrier
Hi there!
I live in Australia and recently bought a secondhand i170. I am enjoying using the PT and was wondering if I can attach a cargo carrier to my Segway. I have a handlebar bag but am keen to occasionnally carrier more stuff. The Segway website has a hard case advertised. Will this fit onto my older machine? Thanks. Tow |

The gen two lower cargo frames
Do indeed connect onto the Gen one machines.
So you can then put that on, the cargo platform and the hardcase. Or once you have the frame and platform, you can fashion your own side carrying system.

You may also wish to consider the original Gen1 lower cargo system. You'll occasionally find these on eBay.
The good thing about the Gen2 system, which as Will says, will fit, is that you can move the bag out and away from your body. It makes the Segway wider but allows you to lean more when turning, which is tricky with a fully loaded Gen1 system (you have to lean from the waist up). On the other hand, the Gen1 system is a robust package, and in my opinion, the actual bags are better because they are not hard plastic and are a better shape and size. Gen 2 set up requires at least 1 of each of these: Gen 1 set-up requires at least one of these: Plus the frame shown in the following pic: Segway also used to offer a 25.0 side bag for the Gen 1: Personally, if you are only after 1 bag, the 25.0 bag, if you can find it, might be a good solution. Ideally try and see them all before deciding - but the availability of the earlier products will make this difficult. The good thing is they're all in black! (the 25.0 bag was availble in grey/titantium).

Segway carriers
Thank you all for your prompt reply! Greatly appreciated.
I will look into your suggestions. I have another question about the Gen 2 system. The photo in the middle shows a plate type attachment. Where does it fit onto the Segway?? Thanks again. Tow |

The cargo plate
Connects to the top of the lower cargo frame (picture one) and then you hook up a funny connector for the givi bag. Or you lash down another bag or box. I have seen plastic milk crates attached with wire ties.
