Fat/Weight Comments While on Tour - Page 4

I have been overweight all my life and have just now started to get myself into shape by reviving my bicycle riding. Two knee surgeries sidelined me for a few years and caused my health to suffer.

I was a little reluctant about getting a Segway because I did not want it to replace my bicycle riding. So I set out to find a way to incorporate my bicycle riding with Segway riding. I am planning on bringing my bike to work with my car one day. The next day I will ride my Segway to work and ride my bicycle home.

Pretty good compromise I think. If I hear those comments from people, I can hold my head high and know they are just generalizing about someone they know nothing about.

someone PLEASE ship me your polo mallet. A family of 3 has been harrassing me since day 1 that they saw me on a Segway and I am up to 'here' with their comments at this point its just disrespectful and happening infront of guests on tours now.

a mother, a father, their 12 year old son, and they're training their dog to chase the segway which I think is absurd and they deserve well what's coming to them. grrrr

Your situation could be worse, you could be unhappy and mean-spirited like them.

It's sad what these two adults are teaching their child.

As for poochie, remember that we have a leash law. If they send the dog after you, call the Hawaiian Humane Society, 946-2187. Get video with your cell phone.

Have you stopped to talk to them. Be nice and they will probably feel like tools for harassing you. Put the kid on a Segway then mom and dad will have to listen to HIM rave about how cool they are.

funny i stopped and said 'excuse me' because they had mumbled something and they started talking about the segway and i was very sweet and nice about everything...

and they just mocked everything i said and stood in the way of the sidewalk and walked like a sloth...so slow. grass and mud on both sides of the sidewalk and i was on an i180...i wasnt going to chance driving and wrecking because of the mud so i put my headphones on and sat on the bench until they were gone.

You're on a Segway, and they're not.

Don't lower yourself to their level.

And, anyway, the law requires that you yield to them, whether they're being jerks or not. We don't want them to whine to the Waikiki Neighborhood Board member who doesn't like Segways (It's not Walt Flood, by the way).

Wow I never really thought about any of this. I hope I don't hear this when we go on our tours at disney world in fort wilderness or Epcot but if we do I will tell myself they're just jealous because they did not think to book a tour. It's really amazing to me that people can be so very rude for no reason.
