What's with the big T and that cup?
Two things been botherin' me some the past few weeks. Ever'where I look, you guys keep referring to Segway Fest 2008, but you keep puttin' a big capital "T" on the end. You even do a capital T on a few other words, like besT and, well, you know. So, what's up with the big "T"?
And that cup. Now, I didn't do so pretty good in English classes, even though it was my major and I have had a few things published. But I'm pertty sure this "Woz Challenge Cup" refers to some sorta coffee cup er somethin'. Then I see there's a Segway Polo game associated with it, so it must be like one a them sports play-offs or other kinda contest, like the Green Cup Challenge - 2008, Breeder's Cup Challenge, DivaCup Challenge 2008, Team Cup Challenge 2008, Stanley Cup Challenge and America's Cup Challenge. So, I cain't figger out why you guys keep talkin' about a cup, when it's really a challenge - or contest - you're referrin' to. Why isn't it called the Woz Cup Challenge? Are you not in a contest to win the Woz Cup? Well, I'm jest a little confused tonight. Maybe it's my oxygen runnin' out. Maybe I need to hook up a new tank - I call it the eJM o2 Tank Challenge. Please, someone, straighten me out. Jim |

I can't speak to the Challenge. (And maybe that's the answer - Woz challenged everyone to a game of polo and the cup is the reward - and he keeps challenging every year...)
But the original FesT had the capital T, and I'm pretty sure it was just something that was done to make the logo interesting. And ever since we've just referred to it as the FesT. (Jim Reynolds has the history of how the logo came about, I'm sure - but since Segway owned the name, I'm pretty sure they were instrumental in the design.) I'm sure besT is a playoff on FesT. So many new things for us old timers. Who wouldda thunk that something would be called an iPhone, or that someone would write a book called iWoz, etc. Technology has overtaken the style books. Gee, maybe I should sign this iPam |

The BIG T
This is something that we carry over from the first SegwayFesT in honor of a decision those organizers made.
The BIG T stands for the handlebar and control shaft of the the Segway. On the Woz Challenge Cup.... The official name of the Segway Polo Match is the Woz Challenge Cup, there is indeed a large (very large) loving cup that goes to the team that wins the cup to hold onto until the next team wins it. And this year it goes to the Famous California Gold Rush! They beat the reigning champions the Silicon Valley Aftershocks (2007), who beat the New Zealand Pole Blacks (2006). Hope that explains it for you. I have been using the BesT of the BesT from the Segway Show at SegwayFesT as another way to tie in SegwayFesT to an event that was held this year. The Segway Show was the first time that it was held, and was a great way for folks to see the many different Segway modifications that are out there. Look for more entrants next year! And if it offends you that I take liberties with the letters, sorry, we are just having fun. Plus I never liked my 7th grade English Teacher anyway! ;-0

I am NOT offended by anyone's use of the big T. I don't know what gave you that idea. I tried to make my post in good fun as much as in search of knowledge.
--- Since you describe the use of the T as a representation of the handlebar, I can see that very clearly. Pretty cool, I think. My feeling about the term "Woz Challenge Cup" is that someone got a temporary case of dyslexia and ever'one else just went along with it. It happens. To me, it sounds like a souvenir - a cup or a mug from the Woz Challenge game. Now, Woz Cup Challenge, that is the game - a challenge or contest to see who gets the Woz Cup, a big bronze bowl with winners names and places that changes hands every year (or maybe a new trophy cup each year with all the players names, etc.). No matter though. I know how stubborn some a you are. I'm not gonna give you no flak for calling it the wrong name. 'Long as you don't give me no grief for calling it the Woz Cup Challenge. Maybe I'll make it to a future SegfesT an' we can arm wrestle over it. Or drink out of it. Jim |

Let's keep this above board
Well at least above the waist line!
I wondered just who would bring it down to that level? ;-) Shame on you, but it is funny! ;-) Someone has way too much time on their hands if they read this forum and then go searching on the internet for photos of a sports cup... Well on the other hand, maybe they just have a photo of that product saved on their computer!

The name of the cup is the "Woz Challenge Cup". The name of the cup is not the "Woz Cup".
At least that is how I understood this to be...

I found it hilarious that Woz jokingly tried to steal the cup at the presentation dinner during FesT -Sal P.S. Lets hope JohnM's picture isn't shown actual size (that is, unless some of us are using 60" monitors).
