Talking Can't afford one ? Then don't steal one !!!!

Well, I don't know where to start ..............

I am getting really pi#$ed when I hear about these low life people stealing someones property, and thinking the so called wealthier dude did deserve so.

We all work hard for our stuff and do not deserve that ANYBODY takes out well earned possessions from us.

So to make the point, we do NEED a better network of controlling our SEGWAYS and the proof of ownership somehow.

How about we start a parallel private database we can all register our Segways that is accessible for owners and buyers ?

Or even better, we do it like Microsoft and have to update our software every 30 days, LOL.

Just a thought.

Taken off the Bay Area SEG mailing list:
Quote:
Keep an eye out for my segway.
It was stolen out of my truck in SF during diner with NZ on Sunday.
It was a yellow i180 with just the turn grip and black and grey
replacement fenders.
If someone spots this segway, sleepy or I can alert the owner. (I would have put the owner's email address here, but I'm not sure if he wants that publicly displayed. If you have access to Bay Area SEG mailing list, then you can get it off of that and directly contact the owner.)

To answer the usual questions, the serial number wasn't posted, I doubt the keys were with it and finally knowing the owner I'd expect the segway to be registered at Segway INC in his name.

ps - Of all the sticky's in this sub-forum, I'd think this is the one sticky that should be left on the main forum so that everyone sees it. Otherwise information like this gets buried and not read in a timely fashion.

Unhappy stolen in Philadelphia!

My 6 yo segway was stolen yesterday on the campus of St. Joe's U in West Philadelphia. It was the first Segway in the area. Of course, the thief does not have the keys or the charger, so it is useless to him so far. I am still looking for my original purchase info so I can post the ID number in this forum(I have it somewhere!!?!).please all dealers be on the lookout for an original model with no keys and no charger. Thanks!

Have you notified INC yet? No dealer will provide keys without checking the registration with the company. You should have an email waiting for them when the arrive Monday morning if you haven't already notified them. If you bought from a dealer, they should have a record of your serial number. Good luck.

Default i2 stolen

My i2 was stolen at a Flying J truck stop in South Carolina around 15 miles south of the state border on 4/30/08. By now, the i2 could be anywhere in the country.

i2 serial # is 072131028995

I should appreciate it if anyone requesting a new key had it couriered to him by his local police department.

Thanks,

Footloose

Sorry to hear. Those good ol' boys need to be rehabilitated -- with a shotgun. Questions:
  1. Did you report to INC? Every dealer needs to go through them to get the code.
  2. How was it stolen? Did you have it locked?
  3. No surveillance cameras at Flying J?

Does public flogging sound good for Segway theives?? I wonder what happens to the Segways once the MORON finds out it doesn't work without keys???? I just love the idea of COPS delivering the new key, way cool. Tory

My claim was denied too by State Farm. I am going to try again with the info that you posted. Wish me luck!
