Thumbs up 2006 i2 alive and well.

My 2006 i2 is still alive and perfoming well and delivering great enjoyment.
I added a seg seat; did an X2 conversion; added a golf kit; saddle bags. Put in a new set of batteries because one died.

Last winter I discovered that the radio board was now faulty and therefore not allowing reliable start-ups in cool weather (-4 degrees C, here Downunder). Annoying at best when stopping a few kms from home and not always easily able to access a power point.

Time to put in a new radio board. The only reliable solution. Paid my money and got a newly programed board for my specific model. The swap was straightforward. A careful, patient approach allowed the dissassembly and radio board swap without any casualties. On reassembly the i2 fired up without a hitch. Time to add some more kms to the tally.

Now back to enjoying my i2 in the 39 degree C summer here Downunder, and during the cool winters as well. 😎

Talking SO glad to hear

I too just got back into the OG Segway game.
I used to work for Segway of Annapolis, MD in the states and the owner was my mentor.
Recently they closed shop but not before I was able to get their very last i2 in their stock. Phenomenal machine.
My wife and I both had one in our earlier days - her a white i2, me a red i180 - that we used to commute to work with. Sure we got hurled insults as us like "why don't you walk" which I always found funny because it was almost always yelled out the window of a moving car... LOL.

Good to see a small community of pre-Chinese Segway users running around. May your weather be pleasant and your battery full wherever you glide :-)

Definitely!

My wife and I still go out quite often on our Gen 2 machines--my X2 and her i2.

I also just picked up another i2 with only 20 miles on it. It works just fine for being all original, including the batteries. The owners said it just sat plugged in pretty much unused for the past ten years or so. I believe them, since the machine looks pretty much brand new.

I also have a miniPRO, but nothing can compare to the joy of gliding around on an i2 or X2.
