Kudos to you, P99guy! You took a risk with an unknown new supplier and it worked out ok. Your experience and reporting is a benefit to the Segway community.
Personally, I have no issue (in general) with Chinese-made batteries, since a big percentage of all lithium-ion batteries come from China. P99Guy is correct that finding the correct supplier is the key, and the challenge. Having some experience with the Chinese marketplace, I know that it is much less regulated than what one might expect. I have seen everything from excellent quality to fake parts with my company’s name on them, and insides that look like they were soldered by unskilled children. China does not have the western legal system that provides negative feedback to bad actors. As a corporate buyer, you must put your own quality controls in place, and continuously verify that they are being implemented at the factory. For an individual buyer, this isn’t possible. I’m glad it worked out for P99Guy! Thanks for taking the leap of faith! |

I need SOME Segway batteries.
I have been considering Wuhan Yanyang's battery before. But this month I heard in Florida, the Segway shop caught fire because of their batteries. Does anyone know what's going on? Or Does anyone know of other battery suppliers? |

I heard they were actual Segway brand batteries. Guess I need to contact Dave or John directly to verify. |

It would be best if you can confirm it for me! I don’t know if I should continue to buy their batteries. Because I am very worried about buying batterries that have the risk of explosion and fire.

We already know about the explosion. The battery is not ours. Our batteries have multiple safety protections 1. BMS will be protected by software at the end of charging 2. BMS will be protected by hardware at the charging end 3. BMS will be protected at the charging end by controlling the charger 4. The battery reserves a certain amount of power and is not fully charged for protection |
