Default Temp limits and codes

I knew these things were temperature sensitive but get serious! Used our second hand Segway X-2's all last year for EVERYTHING! Rather ride than walk! Started gettin' colder but had to do just one more errand. It was almost below 40 deg F but what the hey! I'll tel you hey! Got into stick shaker, step off, restart, repeat mode until it showed a code E0104, I think. So I dragged it back and put it inside for the winter. Looked up the code and got some kinda techno-geek garble about lack of communication between some part and another. Called the dealer and he never called back. Was gonna call another dealer so I tried to start it to find the code number. It started normally and I rode it around in the house! Perfect! My toy was back and ready for chores come warm weather! What they got in there? Temp sensors to crap the machine when it gets below 40F? I know lithium-ion batteries lose power as it gets colder. Is this some sort of super conservative limit so we are less likely to bust our butts?

I just looked it up.The operating range of the batteries is between 32 Degrees and 122 degrees farenheigt. Maybe your batteries are getting a little weak.

0F is no problem . . .

I glided home last night with 11F temps. Below 40F is no problem. Trigger is stalled in a 55F garage but prior to below freezing glides, I take her out for a quick 1/2 mile or so glide to "equalize" the batteries and allow the system to acclimate itself. Further, in extreme cold, it's been my experience that the Battery Measure on the InkoKey is inaccurate and the 1/2 mile glide allows Trigger to re-calibrate to show a more true reading. After the short glide, I plug Trigger in and wait 30 or so minutes and then have little difficulty in cold or snow. Ice is always tricky, however.

Trigger has "Blinky" on the InfoKey and running on a set of rebuilt MTOs. When I had the old OEMs, the stick shake did happen, but the 1/2 mile short glide in preparation of a longer glide usually corrected that issue. Performance is limited initially, but after a couple of miles its all Giddyup. Reduced distance without a doubt but little problem in the cold if you prep (and dress) properly.
