Default Armed Forces Day

Yesterday was Armed Forces Day and I hope we all took the time to at least acknowledge the sacrifice our military is making for us.

Regardless of what we think of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan we should take time to support our military and I, for one, salute them.

Here is a small video to remind us of who they are.

And for a beautiful, and haunting, rendition of "Echo Taps"

... Steven. Did we miss it here? Is our one sided media so biased it wasn't even brought up? Friday is an odd day for a "Memorial" day type event, usually put off to Mondays here in the US. Our real Memorial day is coming up soon, it of course honors ALL the fallen servicemen from all our wars. Really more of an "Armed Services Day".

Steven,

thanks

You can't just watch these and not pass them on.

I think what is most moving of all is that not only did volunteers play Taps at every National and State Veterans Cemeteries yesterday but also foreign Buglers participated by playing Taps at Battle Monuments in their respective countries.

I know of three (3) countries, Belgium, France, and New Zealand, who participated and I believe there were more. From what I understand more than 15 volunteers participated in these three countries alone.

[Edit] - I just found out that at least eight (8) more countries participated - England, Italy, Luxemborg, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, The Netherlands, and Tunisia, plus Guam and Puerto Rico.

Thumbs up Thank you!

Thank you very much, Steven. The video by Lizzie Palmer really touched a note with me. I first enlisted in 1968, and you remember how vets were treated for the following 10 years or so. I pray that people like Lizzie can continue to foster these feelings throughout this country.

Ditto...

I know my heartfelt thanks goes to all those who volunteer to don the gear, and stand to support and defend their countries.

Face it, the bad guys win when people of quality don't step up. Many have, and have done so proudly, and with honor.
