Default fault code E406

Re 2016 Segway X2SE, I just want to check if fault codes such as the E406 motor drawing too many amps are dealer reset only or it would just go away if the fault no longer existed? I have the fault code E406 and even if I replace the batteries it shows straight away on the info key and shuts down, you don't have to attempt to ride it, seems to me the fault cannot actually be happening at that time so either it stores the fault code and needs to be dealer reset or I have a burned out component on the board, maybe a motor transistor?

what do you guys think?

I have also been told that the CU boards are locked to to the info key so a used board would not work unless anyone knows what chip holds the key code, if so I could swop it over, done that many times with coded Bosch BMW ecu's,
