painting advice needed
Allie has decided that her glide needs to be pastel pink. I read last month that Ryan W painted his I2 white but before I pull this thing apart - what kind of paint do you recommend? Just doing the fenders..I saw you had $300 of paint "sitting around" but was that just what you had or can I find something at home depot or autozone that will not crack & etc. for less? Any advise?

Any spray paint that's desinged to be used with plastic should work. The paint itself has to be flexible enough to not split / crack when the fenders flex under normal use.
I used, Krylon Fusion for Plastic, and know it works very well. Also not expensive, $6 - $7 a can. I easily did two fenders with one can, and have between 1/3 to 1/2 of the can left. Click for color selection: |

I simply cleaned with an all-purpose cleaner (windex would do I guess), rinsed, then wiped with alcohol. Then masked off where I didn't want painted, then wiped with alcohol again to get any finger prints off. |

well we spent the entire day gliding palm beach, but we did stop and get the Krylon. I found there are a few dozen more choices than the website posted and I decided on the spot to paint mine in a textured nickel finish. Since we are headed downtown on them tonight, the fenders go up on hooks tomorrow morning [assuming I am not overserved this evening!]. Thanks again for the advise, I will definately post the pics on Wednesday.

Vinyl & fabric spray, works on both metal and plastic, no coating, more of a dye.
Can be bought at Auto Zone or Checker, not sure about the color selection. |
