I do wonder why a company took the time to design new products, purchase tooling, perform product testing, and set up an automated line... for replacement parts for discontinued products, which sold perhaps 140,000-150,000 units over 18-19 years. How many customers are looking for replacement batteries? I would like to understand YanYang's business model. Either the market is much larger than I think, or perhaps it's my failure to understand how inexpensive it must be to do such things in China.

However, I think it is wise to have one's technical ducks in a row if you are going to advertise on a site with Segway-knowledgeable people. Technical questions are certain to arise.

Regarding original BMS boards, is there a shortage? There are no new ones, I think, but every dead Segway battery has a BMS, and it is far more likely that the lithium-ion cell(s) failed, not the BMS.

If you have an original Segway battery with a bad BMS, would a third-party replacement board even work properly with the original lithium-ion cells, or with whatever unspecified replacement cells someone might choose?

Personally, knowing how much energy there is in a Segway battery, I would want to be VERY sure the BMS is doing the right thing.

Maybe MTO Battery could comment on these products!
Hello, Civicsman,
Segway battery is just one of our company's products.
Yes, Segway has been discontinued, but there are still many people looking for batteries, and we hope we can help them.
And our company does not only produce Segway batteries, we also have other businesses. NIU batteries, Super SOCO batteries and various types of BMS, etc. In addition, our company can be customized.
Our Segway BMS can directly replace the original BMS, and we have a Bluetooth module and our own APP, you can use the APP to monitor your battery data in real time.
And regarding Segway, we have our own diagnostic instrument, which completely eliminates the trouble of computer and IIC adapter to diagnose the battery;
Our battery has a one-year warranty. If there is any problem within one year, we will replace the customer with a new battery free of charge. We have absolute confidence in our batteries. We have sold thousands of them.

Default Batteries

Thank you Amy.

I hope to chat with you in the coming week. I think I need to stay up late to match your business day.

What times are you available?

Thanks,

David

Amy,

I have determined that the we chat app sucks. Do you use what’s app or any other form of communication?

Rather than learning to speak Chinese can I just order on Aliexpress?

Thank you.
If this all happens as you say, I see much larger orders in your future.

Interesting to see the Chinese packs appear to use Ternary cells rather than LiFePO4

Higher energy density, but lower safety performance, and shorter cycle life. I guess that explains the lower cost. Would be good to see some long term real-world reviews of these.

Actually the ones that are least expensive are the LiFePO4 version.

Those are the ones I ordered as I want life expectancy more than range.

According to Amy they should be here within 15 days.
