Smile MiniPro, handlebars arriving tomorrow

I was disappointed back in 2001 when I planned to buy a Segway, but it turned out to be so expensive, it was out of the question for me.
Yesterday, I bought a MiniPro refurb from Woot for $399 and handlebars and a kickstand from More4mini, so 16 years late, I'm going to finally follow through on my plan. They are due to arrive tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I don't walk as well as I used to and plan to use it as some people would use a wheelchair.
I hope to learn a lot on this forum, especially the disability section. Thanks in advance for the info; I have a lot to learn.

Default Helloooooo!!

Hello to all,
My wife and I just bought 2 MiniPros. We didn't think we could balance very good with the standard knee stick. We bought handlebars from More4Mini.
We love the Mini with these handlebars. The bars are quick connect/disconnect just like the original knee bar.
The Mini is so fun to ride and the handlebar gives so much stability....BUT

We have found that when exiting the Mini with the handlebars.....the Mini tries to race backwards as soon as I get off the back. This happens to my wife as well on the other Mini. We have to make sure we don't have a foot even behind the wheel or it tries to run up your leg.
We have learned to put both feet between the wheels and stop it with the front of your ankles, and reach over to power it off.....kind of a dangerous situation....sometimes I just lift it up.

Just wondering if anyone knows why this would be happening.

Looking forward to any info on this issue, and very glad to find this forum!!

Are you pulling back on the handle as you step off. It can't balance with the handlebar so it will take off as if the rider is giving it lean input. I heard the handlebar makes it take off forward if you let go. Odd that yours would cause the mini to have rearward lean/motion. Hold the control bar (handle) still in space (hold it still without pulling or pushing) and the mini pro will stay below it.

You cannot let go of the handlebar on a powered up segway with handlebar, the way you can on a stock minipro. Handlebars will all take off.

You can use the app to make a balance adjustment to compensate for the handlebar. I haven't tried it but did see it in the app somewhere.
Strange to me that it doesn't want to go forward with the added weight of the handlebar being in front of the center of gravity and tilting the platform down in the front.

Thanks! Yes, I believe that is exactly what I am doing. I tried to make sure I am not pulling back on the bar and it did a lot better. I know the bars are not stock and it doesn't compensate for the lean one way or the other. I have to make sure I keep things as even as possible.
Thanks for the great advice!!!

I will try to find that in the app....that would make things a lot better for sure.
I think the problem is how I have been holding the bar when getting off the machine.
Thanks, I will try to find that!!

Default Calibration for Handlebars

I was able to recalibrate out MiniPros from the 9bot app.
It has made a huge difference.
I tried to post a link to the procedure, but I haven't met my quota of post to be able to send a link...
