Is this Segway Police Light & Siren still available? I can't find it on the Segway website anymore.

With the change to the Patroller Model
You will have to find what stock is available at the dealer level, as the new patroller model uses something different.
http://www.niterider.com/prod_digitalpatrol.shtml You may want to look at the NiteRider systems - most of the police depts use those on their Segways as well as their bikes. - the dual light and then add on the different lenses that you need - blue red for police and red red for non police operations.

I would hope that they'd keep offering the original accessory since plenty of departments still have older Segways or may choose to go with a non-Patroller model new Segway. Do any of y'all have experience with the light I linked to above? If so, how well does it work? I'd love to find a video but a quick Google search didn't turn up anything.

The Segway light
Though the Segway looks good, it does not have the long time performance that the Nite Rider system has
http://www.niterider.com/prod_digitalpatrol.shtml The Segway light is made by an outside manufacturer and will be supported by them. Contact your dealer for more info.

Yeah, our bike guys use that system. I'm not too crazy about it though since it isn't as bright and attention-getting as an LED option could be. That's just me though. I do like that the Segway light looks like a regular white bike light when in the off position. Anybody know if it is red/blue/white or just red/blue? Looks like there's some white light in there though...

If you're just looking for a great light solution for your Gen 2, I have a great setup with a custom bracket I am getting ready to market. It includes two 900 lumen P7 lights, 4 LIon rechargeable batteries, a charger, bracket and mounting hardware for $199.00. I guarantee this is substantially brighter than any bicycle light setup and costs a fraction. The bracket mounts to the leansteer height adjust screw and easily mounted and dismounted in a matter of seconds.
Here's some pictures to give you an idea of how bright they are. PM me if you're interested! http://www.flickr.com/photos/2023665...7615745412898/ |
