Default Wouldn't know...

Wouldn't know even where to begin with getting this idea to pan out, but since (California) Governor Schwarzenegger recently broke his leg and will most likely attend his swearing in on crutches, should somebody find out if he would be interested in "adopting" a PT while he heals?

Maybe Noel Lee of Monster cable fame would be interested in hooking the Governor up? Or an enterprising dealer in the Northern California area? Or Segway, Inc. itself?

Or is it a bad idea to stress the use of a PT as a mobility device because in this case it could be misconstrued as a medical device?

Only an X2 would do for our Governor/ex-Terminator/ex-Mr. Universe/ex-Hummer owner. Or else maybe Zorba9 can donate his locked and loaded studded monster, lol:

I don't know if any of these are available, but do you see something you think the Governor might like?

Seriously though, I think teaming up Governor Schwarzenegger with nearly any model PT could be mutually beneficial, both for the Governor's convenience and as awareness for the upcoming renewal of seg-friendly legislation in the state of California.

Yes, but let's not get carried away. Remember a few weeks ago when the surfer from Australia lost his leg to a shark, and it was discussed whether a gift of a PT would be a good "promotion"?

Such a decision should be made by the affected party, in consultation with his or her physician, as part of their overall physical therapy rehab.

At this point in time I was wondering what others thought about the issue of the perception of the PT as a consumer device that sometimes seems to have medically related applications. No sense in advancing the issue if it further pigeonholes the PT as a primarily medical application.

Or is there? Please submit any comments one way or the other.

Thumbs up

I think it's a great idea to at least present the idea of using a Segway to help him get around. He's a grown-up and can make his own decision. If someone in Oakland or Sacramento had one to loan, that would be even better, but he could certainly afford to purchase one if he thought it could help his mobility as well as his "green" image.
