Talking Tarkus, Now we know why your are selling your spare tires

So Alan and his scooter can get out there!

If Jerry gives as moving a speech to that crowd as he did during the SegwayfesT week last year, it should be a good one.

Will,

As you know these events always put a dent in the pocket book but I love the cause.

The main reason I'm selling the tires is that I am "swimming in them" right now.

With all the flight transfers I have coming up in the next month I'm sure to end up with more! My tires never see much action. I glide at walking speed and then some airline bust the rims before I have any time on them.

Yes, Jerry is a fine speaker indeed.

Hope to some some of you there.
Be Big,
Alan

So Alan, what do you do when they break one? Do you, just as a matter of course, carry an extra one or two (return trip) in your luggage?

I don't carry a spare but one could be packed and so far only once was the damage on the way out.

I keep a couple at home and now have a friend who can overnight one if I can't find a dealer close that has one.

I also know what dealers stock them so in a pinch I can have them send one.

For instance, don't try to find anything Segway in the Caymans . There I got to use my old friend 'Mr. Wheelchair" for anything of distance.

Be Big,
Alan

Never a problem. They reimburse pretty fast.
It's the law.

They have also treated me well after the damage and worked hard to do all they could to mitigate my imposition.

American-2 flights/2 claims
US Air-1 flight/1 claim
Continental-2 flights/ 1 claim

All took care of things fast but thats a bad batting average.

Southwest. I have flown over 200 segments with them and never a dent, knock on wood. They are always my first choice.

Be Big,
Alan

I read it too. I also wish I had answers, but I have never been across the pond and am not familiar enough with the laws to give anything other than speculation.

I know from other posts we have Chat members in Europe and had hoped one would have jumped in.
