Organizing InfoKeys
I'm always curious when I visit other tour businesses to find our how they organize and manage the InfoKeys for their fleet. Some keep them on a string around their neck, some throw them in a drawer, some keep them in a sandwich bag, etc. Some just leave them on the machines all the time. I don't think that I've seen any two businesses do it the same way. I'd be interested in any innovative ideas other people have.
It has always been a point of some annoyance for me so I built myself a little box. And then I built another one for a friend who is also a dealer/tour operator. Balt 017_small.jpgBalt 029_small.jpg It was actually a relaxing activity while watching TV at night. I wouldn't mind making a few more for dealers/tour operators who'd find them useful. I'm not trying to sell them. Bob Velke SegTours, LLC Segway Tours of Gettysburg www.SegTours.com Last edited by bvelke; 01-18-2009 at 10:37 PM.. |

I love the Zen of it
Sort of little oriental boxes that hold the keys
Thats great. I try to label the back of each key with a number that matches the number on the Segway.

As you see, I label the top of them with fingernail polish. That way, I don't have to pick each one up or turn them over to see the label.

I label the back of mine with letters that correspond to a letter I put on the Segways. I then carry around all of my keys in a purple camouflage Crown Royale bag. The nail polish sounds like a good idea so that I won't have to turn them over every time I need to identify them. Great post, I was wondering how others did it myself.

I tried labelling the rear of the keys, but every time I slide them in to the mounting dock they got scraped off or crumpled up. I like the nail varnish idea too and I'm off out today to buy some.
Any idea what shade would complement my eyes?

I don't have that many info keys to mark, but one item that I do use at work and other places to mark things may work well here...
I use simple white-out. (old fashioned correction fluid) It was a mainstay for anyone who types like I do, before modern spell checkers... It comes in small bottles like nail polish, has the small brush in the cap, but does not smell bad, and sticks to most surfaces... And the bright white color makes it easy to see on most any color. Lastly, one feature that I like, if you wait till it dries you can use a fine point felt tip pen to write on it if you like.
