Question Newbie from Europe

Hey evreyone, newbie to Segway. I Had my i167 imported to Europe recently.
I had real fun first two weeks than my friend have lost the set of the keys....
As we say here, if you don´t want something just lend it...

Any idea how to get new set please? I have asked the dealer here, but.... $$$.

Thanks

H

Welcome.
That must be very frustrating.

A new set of keys is quite econmonical, from almost any dealer.
Prices vary around the world, but mostly under $US50 for a set.

Just to ensure that no stolen Segway PTs are supported ( and I am sure yours is not ), dealers will ask you to prove that you are the owner of that machine.
Just bring your paperwork, including the serial number and hopefully the keycode too.

Good luck
Michael

Thanks for the welcome...

Would there be someone on the forum - dealer or so who could supply the keys?

I have talked to the dealer here in Prague/ Europe and they have asked
8000,- CZK = 500USD for one key!!! Would you believe that? [!

Thanks

H

Default Keys

First of all make sure the Segway is listed in your name and address for keys.

And only a European dealer can make keys for you, as US Dealers are unable to sell outside of the USA.

Smile No Problem

There are 2 parts to creating a key.

Part 1
Knowing the keycode for your machine.
There was keycode supplied with the original machine.
It's great if you have that.
If you don't have it, the code will need to come from Segway Inc, and they do charge for this service.

Part 2
With the code you can create keys, if you have the right equipment and software.
You can even make custom keys ( with custom speed limits or custom steering sensitivity ).

To proceed, we ask you to show us paperwork, that proves you own the machine.
We never wish to support a stolen machine, so that why we ask for proof of ownership.

If nobody closer to you, can assist, them please contact us via

I´ve purchased the Segway on ebay and there was no documentation at all.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160207931824

The only numbers I have are those printed on the PT under the bateries, hope this will be enough to create the keys....

Hi

OK we are making progress.
If you were here, in Australia, this is what would happen:

The numbers on the bottom are the machine serial number.

If you have no paperwork, we would check that serial number with the Segway factory, to make sure that this unit hasn't been reported as stolen.

If it's clear, we can make keys.

If it's not clear, we cannot assist you.
AND we have to report that we have located a stolen machine.

I guess that's similar all over the world.

It is to protect bona fide owners, including you.

The ebay seller has a 98.4% approval rating - use the "ask seller a question" function and ask if possibly he still has the keycode. Even if he doesn't I bet he could make a quick verifcation call to inc and get the keycode from them. With that code, alot of us here can make keys for you very inexpensively
