Default seg on Royal Caribbean?

Has anyone tried taking his/her Segway on a cruise? We are planning a cruise on Royal Caribbean.

We spoke with RC (among others) in mid-2007 as part of our process to create some Caribbean tour sites.

RC (as am I) was very leery about allowing people to use Segways on board due to safety concerns including you going off the side of the ship. However, at they (RC) did allow them with proper coordination and ONLY for those with mobility issues.

I'd contact them early and be clear about why you need the Segway. Work with them and I would think you would be ok...

Please let us know how you fare.

I have thought about taking a Segway with me, but not for use ON the ship, just in port (ones that we dock at and not anchor off at) to glide the area. I'm not a needs rider, just hate taxis and buses.

Default Cruise lines

I took my Segway on RC last May/June on a Mediteranean cruise. I have M.S. and had no difficulty getting on and off the ship when tendering. The crew was very competent, well trained and helpful.

I am scheduled for a cruise on Princess next summer and have their approval to take my Segway.

You (and any other posters who deal with the cruise lines) might post the contact information for the people you've dealt with regarding the disabled usage of a segway. Actually, maybe DRAFT would be the better place to post the details?

Actually, my travel handled this for me.

RC was never a problem. Princess at first said no, then changed their mind after some consideration.
