Cool that these videos are up here, but I don't see how you could learn to play polo from them.

How far for polo?
I was refering to traveling about 2,200 miles from California to Indianapolis. Currently a group of us from the California Gold Rush club in Sacramento travel 200 miles round trip every other weekend (weather permitting) to play polo with the Silicon Valley Aftershocks and the Oakland Junkyard dogs down in San Jose. A little more challenging to go 20 times the distant but hey...its the WOZ cup!!!

First video is hilarious.
Right off the bat Woz says you wear a helmet so if you fall down you won't get hurt, then immediately talks about how the Segway won't let you fall. "So basically, you can't fall." -- Woz. Hehe . . .

That's dumb. The helmet is to protect your head from HARD WOODEN MALLETS.

Great start!
My hat's off to the Woz and the Aftershocks...the videos are a great start! I do hope we'll see more installments soon. We (the Gold Rush) have been tossing around the similar ideas to "bring the polo rules to life".
ps - Hellphish, if you do have ideas on how to show the more dynamic aspect of the rules, PM me. That's the real challenge. Choreographing the dynamic flavor of play so as to focus on various polo rules is challenging. And getting the right shots with a video camera make that even more difficult. |
