Default Can anyone re-program gen1 keys?

I recently purchased an i167 that came with one key that works and two keys that don't. (I think they went with another segway that I did not purchase and that the seller mixed up the keys)

Can anyone reprogram the key that doesn't work so I have a back up key?

Thanks!

Yes !

There are 2 parts to the issue.

Creating a data string.
To do this you need to know your keycode.
1 This can be read back from a working key.
2 This can be known if you have the original records that came with the machine.
3 This was available thru Segway, and may just still be available from some selected dealers.
With that keycode, I can assist you to create a data string.

Once you have a data string, it needs to be written to a standard iButton.
There are several options for DIY or having somebody else do it for you.

Michael, I do have a working key! Im open to any options as I have a little time while I figure out the best option to rebuild these NIMH battery packs. Do you have any information on the DIY options?

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad

Sure.

First you will need the ability to read and write to standard iButton hardware.
There are several options.

This is what I use
https://www.ibuttonlink.com/products/ds1402d-dr8
and
https://www.ibuttonlink.com/products/ds9490r

There will be other sources so it worthwhile searching for a supplier near you.

Once you have that hardware, you will need software.
Again there are several options.
The doco that comes with the hardware should give you guidance.

Your solution will depend on whether you use a PC or an Apple, or something else.
I use a PC.

Feel free to ask, I may be able to offer limited support.

Hi again

Once you have the ability to read and write from/to iButtons, then you will need to massage data so that you write the correct data to your iButtons.

I can assist you with that too.

Ask when you are ready

I can program them, but you would have to send them to me so I can copy the data from the good key. I can them make the other keys any speed or turning rate you would like.
