I like the video
A guy dorkily gliding back and forth, with a very effete umbrella attached to his Segway -- looking very happy. Take that, you hecklers! How much light-hearted fun have YOU had today?
Still, while I could stand to add a bit more outlandishness to my appearance -- the blue would clash nicely with my orange backpack -- practical matters do weigh on my mind. Like tree branches. The ones that I have to duck way down under, wherever I go. Awnings. Street signs. Traffic lights. All the stuff that makes me very glad I wear a helmet and glasses whenever I go out. Still, it looks like it would add to the fun on a hot or wet day. And what better response to hecklers than being comfortable, having fun, and obviously not caring what they think? Is it available with polka dots? Or, for more formal occasions, Mary Poppins Black? The music helps, too. A nice choice. If it were practical around here, you just might have me sold. A perfect fit for golfers, perhaps? As it is, watching you cheerfully glide back and forth brought some cheer to my day. Thanks! (And good luck!)

You mean something like this (the Segbrella)?
Images sent to me by a UK Segway dealer, SegwaySouthWest

I believe that's a product called the 'Nubrella', which looks interesting.
More pragmatic than Mike's innovation -- but somehow a lot less cheerful. Mike's would be PERFECT for a 4th-of-July parade, while everyone (in parade and audience alike) are baking in the sun.

Yep, agreed - the Segbrella/Nubrella is suited far better for the British climate

The shape of the mibrella seems carefully designed to favour the gliding motion, i.e. it is not just an umbrella on the LSF (the logo gives a hint about the design shape). For some this might be a useful fun addition.
Of course, it doesn't just stop the rain, it also helps keep the sun off your head and shoulders. So I agree it might be particularly attractive for all-weather golfers (rain and blistering sun). Personally, I like the idea of gliding in the rain holding on to a normal umbrella (gliding one handed) but this is not an option for everyone. And dancing around like Gene Kelly in the rain, on a Segway, is easier said than done! Plus, if you go off a kerb too fast - you'll have a softer landing.

Kinda cute- but another option...

Looks like the Nubrella rests uncomfortably on the glider's head! Best sun protection is wearing a BMX helmet. Doubles as protection from brain scramble as well |
