Individual urban transportation
It looks like Segway has opened the door to new forms of urban transportation. I came across this Toshiba model when doing my daily news reading. The caption pretty much says what it is but I was wondering if anybody has more info.

I keep waiting for someone to develop roads that vehicles will get in-car information into the in-car computer that allows the vehicles to drive themselves, and avoid wrecks, etc.
Hmmmm, maybe I've just been reading too much Science Fiction. Pam |

Perhaps they should use this tech for autos now and skip the half size prototype now and into the tenth year. Man, that looks like a kids toy.

I dunno I've read a couple books involving sattelites driving cars.
of course half of those had it disconnecting at dumb moments, making the sattelite run cars through yours, because as far as it's concerned, you arn't there. |

Its a tricycle
That Toshiba thingie has three wheels. That's one more than any personal transport device needs.

Maybe that explains the 10 year wait. The first Segway patent (5971091) was filed in 1995 and granted in 1999. I'm not exactly certain what the 20/17 year rules are but my guess is that the patent will expire about then and Toshiba can drop that pesky third wheel.
