Default Hi fom a newbie in the Seattle area

Hi all,

I'm Rhonda and am considering buying a Segway. A bit about me-I'm visually impaired enough that I'll probably never get a driver's license. I also have severe osteoarthritis in one knee. So a Segway is looking pretty good as a way to get me back to my former level of activity.

I'm in the Lynnwood area (suburb of Seattle) because my job is here & I hate long bus rides. I'm gonna hang around and read forums, and hope to find some great people to bounce ideas off of. I look forward to seeing what's here!

Welcome to SegwayChat! From your description you should have no difficulties using a Segway.

If you enjoy traveling and would take your Segway with you, you will need to get an i167, i170, or i180 since these can be fitted with Nickel batteries. Lion batteries are not allowed of commercial passenger aircraft.

Do see about getting a Segway tour. I believe there is an operation somewhere in the Emerald City. If you decide a Segway isn't for you, you will have had a marvelous adventure. If you then decide you definitely want a Segweay, the experience will cause you to get really get serious about saving up for the purchase.

...and use RainX on your glasses when it's raining. That rain shadow off the Olympics isn't all that much of a shadow.

Heh, I had tried out a Segway, and bussed to Pike Place market and was having a crumpet, when in walks the Segway tour, so I've heard all about it. The combination of a beautiful Seattle day, new Segway people, and tourists at Pike Place made everyone smile at them. They were so bouncy.

Unfortunatly - they won't let you have a discount on the tour - even IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN SEGWAY!

Hi Scott,

We don't offer any discounts for the Segway tour, so unfortunately there
would be no way to change the price or factor in the use of your own
Segway. Let me know if you have any other questions-

Don't be mad. (You can be disappointed). Some do, some don't. Your bringing your own Segway doesn't really change their costs significantly, and the value is in the tour.

Nothing wrong with asking, and it's up to you whether they get your business.

I was quoted a discount for the tour I did -- but I decided I'd use theirs, and not run down my battery, and have it available for other use afterward.

Obviously, we can't have infinite voltage, or the universe would tear itself to shreds, and we wouldn't be discussing Segways.
