Here we are in mid-2003 and no sign of impending iBot sales. Has anyone even heard a current rumor?

Yes, the iBot received fast-track approval from the FDA but, it's not for sale yet. There isn't even a hint of a sales release date on the web site.
http://www.indetech.com/ibot/index.html They only offer to e-mail a message when they're good and ready. |

The machine may have passed muster for the FDA, I assume a PMA (Premarket Approval). It (the design) and the manufacturers also need to have QS (Quality Systems) approval. In fact to say something has been approved by the FDA is almost meaningless unless you know which stage it is in. Once it has passed the final hurdle you can be certain there will be a big press release and I imagine Dateline will do a followup (IIRC, it was John Hockenberry on Dateline that did the first story on the Ibot). Stay tuned.
