Things are hard to diagnose remotely.

My best guess, is that you have at least 2 problems.

Problem 1
Batteries are likely old and bad.
To verify, borrow a set of batteries, fit them, and see what happens.

Problem 2
Red wrench.
This is a serious problem, with no solution ( that I know of ).
