The lock kit is a good idea for "safe areas," but it is totally incompatible with a pair of small bolt cutters. It is totally incompatible with the quick release so the design is not that great. The solution is a lock called "Onguard" Rottweiler, sold at REI (online and in the store). It costs $35, which is cheaper than the Segway lock system and a lot more sturdy. I take the Quick Release out, slide the Onguard into the hole with the lean bar in place and you have a very secure lock with a couple of feet to fit around something stationary. The solid Ulocks (like Kryptonite) work as well, but give you less mobility to reach something stationary.

While the Onguard is a little heavy, it fits into the front bag on my i2 wonderfully.

Good luck, and if anyone wants to purchase the Segway lock system from me (never used), I will let it go for $45.00 which is half the cost I paid for it.
